Fine Oat Flakes in Bulk Organic

Fine oat flakes or jumbo oats: which to choose?

The fine ones are rolled thinner: they cook in a couple of minutes and break down, which gives a smooth porridge. Kazidomi Vrac jumbo oats keep their shape and chew more, which suits muesli and granola. For a creamy texture in a hurry, the fine flake is the right call.

How do I get a creamy porridge?

Two to three minutes in simmering milk or water is enough, stirring without a break. Kazidomi Vrac fine flakes take up liquid very fast and thicken at the end. Reckon on roughly one volume of flakes to three of liquid, then adjust off the heat to the consistency you want.

What are they for in baking?

Blitzed, they give a homemade oat flour that replaces part of the flour in a banana bread or in muffins. Whole, Kazidomi Vrac fine flakes bind energy balls, a pressed tart base or cookies. They soak up moisture from the mixture, so the liquid sometimes needs lengthening slightly.

Where is the oat from and what is in the bag?

The oat comes from Finland and is grown organically. The Kazidomi Vrac bag holds 800 g of flakes, with no added sugar and no flavouring: the ingredient list stops at oat flakes. As with everything on the loose shelf, the quantity is taken by weight rather than in a sealed pack.

How do I keep them dry?

In an airtight container kept somewhere dry, away from heat and from anything giving off steam. Kazidomi Vrac fine flakes take up moisture faster than jumbo ones because they are thinner, and then taste of cardboard. A glass jar with a seal remains the simplest answer.
