Virgin Rapeseed Oil Organic

Can rapeseed oil be heated?

Kazidomi virgin rapeseed oil is cold pressed: it gives its best raw, over a salad, raw vegetables, a mash or cold fish. Fierce heat wrecks the taste. For searing or frying, keep an oil meant for heat instead, such as the coconut oil in the range.

Rapeseed oil or sunflower oil: what is the difference?

Both Kazidomi litre bottles are virgin, French and cold pressed. The rapeseed has a more pronounced taste, faintly of hazelnut, which shows up in a dressing. The linoleic sunflower is more neutral and passes unnoticed in a mayonnaise or a cake batter. The dish decides which one.

Is this oil safe with a tree nut allergy?

No. The Kazidomi label states that the rapeseed oil may contain traces of tree nuts and sesame seeds, from other seeds pressed on the same site. Anyone with a confirmed allergy to either is better off leaving it alone. Otherwise the contents are organic virgin rapeseed oil and nothing else.

How long does an opened bottle last?

Kazidomi indicates that this rapeseed oil is best used within six months of opening. Keep it somewhere cool, dry and dark, with the cap screwed back down. A smell recalling paint or old walnuts means the oil has oxidised: at that stage the taste has gone.

Where does this rapeseed oil come from?

The seeds are grown in France and pressed in France by a family business trading since 1898. Kazidomi has chosen a first cold pressing, meaning a mechanical extraction with no heating and no solvent. The litre bottle holds nothing but organic virgin rapeseed oil.
