Virgin Sunflower Oil Organic

What is a virgin sunflower oil for in the kitchen?

Its very discreet taste makes it a neutral base: mayonnaise, a light dressing, a marinade, a cake batter, or simply for oiling a dish before it goes in the oven. Kazidomi sunflower oil is virgin and cold pressed, so it belongs raw or in gentle cooking rather than in a deep fryer. The bottle holds one litre.

Sunflower or olive oil for a dressing?

It depends on the taste you are after. The Kazidomi linoleic sunflower oil is neutral and leaves the floor to the vinegar, the mustard or the herbs. Extra virgin olive oil imposes its own fruit and bitterness. For a sauce in which the oil should not be noticed, sunflower is the safer bet.

What does linoleic sunflower mean on the label?

It is the type of sunflower used for this Kazidomi oil, as opposed to the varieties described as oleic. The mention appears in the ingredient list, which runs no further than organic virgin sunflower oil. Pressing is carried out in France, as a first cold pressing, by a family business.

How do I keep the litre bottle once opened?

Kazidomi indicates somewhere cool, dry and out of the light, cap closed properly, and use within six months of opening for preference. The large format therefore belongs in a cupboard rather than next to the hob. A fridge is pointless: the oil goes cloudy and thick in there.

Does this sunflower oil contain allergens?

The bottle holds nothing but organic virgin sunflower oil. Kazidomi does however flag possible traces of tree nuts and sesame seeds, arising from the other oils pressed on the same site. No flavouring, colouring or synthetic antioxidant is added to the recipe at any point.
