Medjool Dates in bulk Organic

What makes a Medjool date different?

Size and texture. It is a large, fleshy date, very soft, with a flavour close to caramel. Kazidomi Vrac sells the organic Jordanian fruit loose by weight in a 500 g bag. The ingredient list runs to one line: dates, with no added sugar and no coating oil.

Medjool or Deglet Nour: which date should I buy?

The Kazidomi Vrac Medjool is far fleshier, softer, almost candied, with a caramelised note. The Deglet Nour is slimmer, firmer and much quieter on the palate. Deglet holds its shape better once cooked, while Medjool is at its best raw, whole or stuffed at the end of a meal.

How do I use Medjool dates in plant-based cooking?

Blended, they stand in for sugar and for part of the fat in a raw cake, a plant-based caramel or a nut tart base. The Kazidomi Vrac Medjool also takes a stuffing of hazelnut butter or a square of dark chocolate, and holds its shape while you fill it.

Where do they come from?

Jordan, grown organically. Kazidomi Vrac sells them loose by weight in a 500 g bag, with no added sugar, no syrup and no preservative: the list is the date and nothing else. The fruit is picked ripe, which is what gives it thick flesh and that very soft texture.

How should I keep them?

Somewhere cool and dry, in a jar or a closed tub. A Kazidomi Vrac Medjool left out in the open air loses its softness and hardens. The fridge keeps it longer but makes it firmer, so take it out a quarter of an hour before eating and the suppleness comes back.
