Salad Mix Loose Organic

What is in this mix?

Pumpkin seeds at 40%, linseed at 20%, sunflower seeds at 20% and sweetened dried cranberry halves at 20%, the last of these prepared with cane sugar and sunflower oil. The Kazidomi Vrac mix comes entirely from organic farming and is sold loose by weight in a 250 g bag.

How do I use it?

One or two tablespoons per plate, added at the last moment to a salad, a bowl of raw vegetables or a dip, so the crunch survives. The Kazidomi Vrac mix also goes over a home-made loaf before baking, over a pastry, or straight into a bowl to serve with drinks.

Salad mix or the plain seed mix: which one?

The plain mix is four seeds and nothing else, toasted and savoury from end to end. This Kazidomi Vrac bag adds 20% cranberry halves, which bring sharpness and sweetness: the profile turns sweet and savoury at once, better suited to composed salads, cheese and roast vegetables than a plain mix would be.

Is there sugar in this mix?

Yes, but only in the cranberries: they are dried with cane sugar and coated in a little sunflower oil, the usual treatment for a fruit this tart. The pumpkin, linseed and sunflower seeds in the Kazidomi Vrac bag carry none and arrive exactly as they are.

How do I store it?

Bag folded shut, somewhere dry, cool and out of the light, or tipped into a jar. The seeds are oily and end up going rancid: a smell of paint or a bitter taste means the rest should go. The Kazidomi Vrac format holds 250 g.
