Hemp Seeds Loose Organic

Do hemp seeds need cooking?

No, they are eaten just as they are. The Kazidomi Vrac hemp seeds are hulled: only the tender kernel is left, with no hard shell, so no cooking and no soaking are needed. Scatter them over a salad, a soup, a hummus, a yoghurt or pasta, preferably at the last moment.

What do they taste like?

A mild nutty flavour, close to hazelnut and pine nut, with no bitterness. The texture of the hulled Kazidomi Vrac seeds is tender and slightly oily, very different from the crunch of a shelled nut. That discreet profile is what lets them join savoury and sweet dishes without changing them.

Hemp seeds or chia seeds: which to scatter?

Kazidomi Vrac hemp is eaten dry, as it comes, and keeps its tender texture in a cold dish. Chia swells the moment it meets a liquid and forms a gel: it thickens a preparation instead of staying on the surface. For simply scattering over a dish, hemp is the better fit.

Can they be heated?

They take strong cooking badly, which dries them out and spoils the taste. With Kazidomi Vrac hemp seeds, it is better to add them after cooking, onto a dish already served, or to work them in at the end of kneading a bread dough. A very hot pan does nothing for an oily seed.

How do I store them?

Somewhere cool and dry, in an airtight container, as Kazidomi Vrac indicates. A hulled seed is more exposed to the air than a whole one and its fat turns sooner. The fridge suits if the 500 g bag has to last a long time; a rancid smell means it should go.
