Roasted Hazelnut Puree Organic

What is in the jar?

Roasted hazelnuts only, at 100%, from organic farming. No oil is added: the smooth texture comes from the fat released by the hazelnut during grinding. Kazidomi has this butter made in small batches in a family workshop in the Netherlands, in a 500 g jar.

What does roasting change?

The hazelnuts are roasted at between 160 and 170°C before grinding. That heat develops the toasted aromas and loosens the texture, which runs more freely than with a raw nut. The Kazidomi butter therefore tastes stronger and looks darker than a butter made from unroasted hazelnuts.

Hazelnut butter or pistachio butter?

Hazelnut gives a brown butter, heavily toasted and frankly moreish, in a 500 g jar. Pistachio gives a greener paste, denser and finer in flavour, in a 250 g jar. Kazidomi roasts both nuts, but they do not play the same part in baking.

How is it used in cooking?

As a spread on bread, but also in cake batter, a dessert cream or a homemade granola. On the savoury side, the Kazidomi butter binds a sauce for root vegetables or a dressing loosened with water. A teaspoon is enough to scent a whole preparation.

How is the glass jar kept?

At room temperature, out of the light, with the lid closed firmly after each use. A fridge hardens the Kazidomi butter and makes it hard to spread. The glass jar can be recycled once it is empty, or kept and reused for storing something else in the kitchen.
