Macadamia Nuts in bulk Organic

What do macadamia nuts taste like?

Very mild, milky, almost buttery, with a texture that snaps cleanly then melts. The Kazidomi Vrac nuts are sold plain, with no salt and no roasting, which leaves that quiet flavour room to show. They sit as easily in baking as they do in a savoury dish.

Macadamia or almonds: which for a snack?

Macadamia is the fattiest of the tree nuts, tender in the mouth and gentle in flavour, while the almond crunches harder and stays more neutral. Kazidomi Vrac sells both loose by weight, macadamia in a 250 g bag and raw almonds in either 250 g or a kilo.

Where do they come from?

Kenya, grown organically. The nuts arrive shelled and whole, with no salt and no added oil, so the ingredient list is one line long. Kazidomi Vrac sells them loose by weight in a 250 g bag, a size that suits occasional use in the kitchen or as a snack.

How do I cook with them?

Chopped over white fish or a mango salad, blended into a cream for a dairy-free sauce, or folded whole into cookies. The Kazidomi Vrac nuts also take a few minutes in a dry pan, which brings the buttery note forward and leaves them crunchier than they started.

How should I keep them?

In an airtight jar, cool, dry and out of the light. Their high fat content makes them quick to oxidise: a smell like paint means the batch has gone rancid. Kazidomi Vrac advises a cool, dry spot rather than a cupboard sitting next to the oven or the hob.
