Bulk Mini Dried Figs Organic

Why is there rice flour in the ingredient list?

It makes up 2% of the product and stops the fruit sticking together. The Kazidomi Vrac mini dried figs are 98% organic figs. The fine white film you see on the surface comes from that flour and from the natural sugar of the fruit rising during drying.

Do these figs contain added sugar?

No. The ingredient list names only dried figs and a small share of rice flour. The very sweet taste of the Kazidomi Vrac mini figs comes from the fruit itself, whose sugar concentrates as the water evaporates during drying. No syrup and no preservative appear in the composition.

Mini figs or large dried figs: what does the size change?

The size, and therefore the use. The Kazidomi Vrac mini figs are eaten in one bite, with no cutting, which makes them handy as a snack or in a walking bag. Larger figs need cutting for a granola or a tagine, but stuff better and present whole on a plate.

How do I use them in cooking?

Whole as they come, or cut into small pieces in a salad, a slow-cooked dish, a loaf cake or a porridge. The Kazidomi Vrac mini figs stand up to cooking and go with lamb, hard cheese, walnuts and honey. Soaked for a few minutes in warm water, they regain their softness.

How do I store them?

Somewhere cool and dry, out of the light, in a jar or a closed tub. Kazidomi Vrac sells them by weight, in a 500 g bag. Left in the air, figs harden and crystallise more at the surface: an airtight container is what best preserves their supple texture.
