Dried Mango in Bulk Organic

Is there added sugar in these dried mangoes?

No. The ingredient list runs to a single line: 100% dried Brooks mangoes. The sweetness comes from the fruit alone, concentrated by drying, with the tangy edge typical of that variety. The Kazidomi Vrac strips are organic and come from a fair trade supply chain.

How do I keep them once the bag is open?

Out of the light, the heat and the damp, with the bag closed tightly or the strips tipped into a jar. The fridge adds nothing here and hardens them. Kazidomi Vrac mangoes stay supple as long as they take up no moisture from the air, which would leave them sticky.

Dried mango or candied mango: what is the difference?

Candied mango is steeped in sugar syrup before drying: translucent flesh, a very sweet taste, an almost jellied texture. The Kazidomi Vrac strip is dehydrated fruit and nothing else, which is why it stays a matt orange, firm and tender at once, with its acidity kept intact.

How do I use them in the kitchen?

As they are, as a snack that travels well, or diced into yoghurt, muesli, a smoothie or a fruit salad. The Kazidomi Vrac strips cut far more easily with scissors than with a knife. They also rehydrate in a few minutes in warm water when a cake recipe calls for it.

Where are they from and which variety is it?

Brooks mangoes, a variety with firm, barely fibrous flesh that stands up well to being dried in strips. The origin Kazidomi Vrac gives is Burkina Faso, through an organic and fair trade chain. The bag holds 500 g, which makes a solid reserve for snacks or for breakfast.
