Kombucha Original Organic

What does the original kombucha taste like?

Its base, with no fruit juice on top: a tangy fermented tea carrying the notes of the plants that go with it, lime blossom, melissa, lemon verbena, spearmint, nettle and liquorice. Kazidomi presents it as the plainest profile in the range, close to a lightly sweetened sparkling iced tea.

Original or a fruit-flavoured kombucha: what is the difference?

The Kazidomi original holds only the fermented tea and plant extract, raw cane sugar and natural carbonation. The other bottles in the range add fruit juice, lime, ginger, sour cherry or passion fruit, which partly covers the tea. The original leaves it right at the front.

How much sugar is left in the bottle?

The recipe starts at four point three per cent raw cane sugar, part of which the kombucha culture consumes during fermentation. That work by the ferments is what creates the acidity of the drink. Kazidomi adds no sweetener, no colouring and no synthetic flavouring to this 330 ml format.

How do I serve it?

Well chilled and in a glass, so the foam drops and the aromas open up. This Kazidomi kombucha goes alongside a light meal or stands in for a soft drink before dinner. Open the bottle slowly, especially if it has travelled: a fizzy fermented drink can overflow on the first turn of the cap.

How is this bottle kept?

The kombucha is pasteurised, so it holds at room temperature as long as it stays sealed. After opening, Kazidomi says the fridge and drinking within five days. Past that the drink loses its bubbles and its bite, with no other visible sign than a taste gone flat.
