Ingredients
- 250 g brown lentils
- 1 onion
- 1 carrot
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- Lettuce leaves
- Salt and pepper
- Whole grain burger buns
Recipe
- Cook the lentils for 20 minutes and let them cool.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Peel and grate the carrot.
- Finely chop the onion and sauté it in a pan with olive oil.
- Add the carrot and cumin. Let simmer.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the lentils and mix with the tomato paste.
- Add the onion and carrot mixture along with breadcrumbs. Season with salt and pepper.
- Form patties and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 30 minutes, flipping the patties halfway through.
- Toast the burger buns.
- Spread the sauce of your choice on the buns, add lettuce leaves, place a lentil patty, and close the burger.
