Ingredients

  • 250 g brown lentils
  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Salt and pepper
  • Whole grain burger buns

Recipe

  1. Cook the lentils for 20 minutes and let them cool.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  3. Peel and grate the carrot.
  4. Finely chop the onion and sauté it in a pan with olive oil.
  5. Add the carrot and cumin. Let simmer.
  6. In a mixing bowl, mash the lentils and mix with the tomato paste.
  7. Add the onion and carrot mixture along with breadcrumbs. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Form patties and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes, flipping the patties halfway through.
  10. Toast the burger buns.
  11. Spread the sauce of your choice on the buns, add lettuce leaves, place a lentil patty, and close the burger.
  12. Enjoy!
