Tea Tree Essential Oil Organic

How do I use tea tree oil in a preparation?

Its food use is limited. Kazidomi says to use it diluted only, in a fat or a liquid, respecting the amount per weight of preparation given on the pack. One drop too many takes over a whole dish, the woody aroma being that powerful, and dilution is not optional.

Tea tree or lavender: which should I pick?

The Kazidomi tea tree is steam distilled from the fresh leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia grown in South Africa and smells of fresh wood. The lavender, distilled from the flowering tops of Lavandula angustifolia harvested in Bulgaria, gives a floral, herbaceous scent that is far gentler on the nose.

How is this essential oil obtained?

By steam distillation of the fresh plant, Melaleuca alternifolia. The 10 ml Kazidomi bottle holds that oil alone, pure and certified organic, with no carrier and no diluent. The leaves come from South Africa and the bottling is carried out in France, as it is for the rest of the range.

What precautions apply to tea tree?

Tea tree is not for pregnant or breastfeeding women, and Kazidomi rules it out for children under six, who should not be able to reach the bottle either. Patch test in the crease of the elbow before putting any on skin. Store it closed, dry and away from the light.

What does terpinen-4-ol on the label mean?

It is the majority compound of this oil, alongside gamma-terpinene and 1,8-cineole. Kazidomi prints it because it describes what is actually in the bottle, whereas the trade name tea tree says nothing about the aromatic profile, nor about where the leaves were grown and harvested.
