Lemon Essential Oil Organic

What exactly is in this 10 ml bottle?

Organic lemon zest essential oil and nothing else, with no dilution and no carrier. The botanical name is Citrus limon, the part used is the pericarp, and the chemotype pairs limonene with beta-pinene. The fruit comes from Italy and the bottling is done in France for Kazidomi.

How is lemon essential oil taken?

Diluted, never neat: in a spoonful of honey, in vegetable oil or on a sugar lump, keeping strictly to the amount printed on the Kazidomi bottle. Going past that amount carries a risk of toxicity. The product is a food supplement and does not replace a varied diet.

Lemon or sweet orange: which one should I choose?

Both Kazidomi bottles are drawn from the peel of a citrus fruit and both are led by limonene. The lemon comes from Italy and smells of sharp, tart zest. The sweet orange, from Citrus aurantium var. sinensis, gives a rounder, sweeter scent. In practice the nose decides this one.

Why avoid the sun after using it?

Citrus essential oils are photosensitising. Kazidomi states that this bottle should not be used before exposure to the sun, because of the risk of a skin reaction. The brand also advises monitoring blood pressure in people who have hypertension, and taking the advice of a health professional beforehand.

Who should leave this oil alone?

Kazidomi does not advise it for pregnant or breastfeeding women, nor for children under six, and asks that the bottle be kept out of their reach. Before any application to the skin, a test in the crease of the elbow is sensible. Anyone under treatment should ask a health professional.
