Turmeric Powder Organic

What is in this bag?

One hundred per cent ground turmeric, from the rhizome of Curcuma longa grown organically in India. Nothing else goes in, not even an anti-caking agent. The Kazidomi 100 g bag is therefore a pure spice, to be measured out according to what the packaging says.

How do I cook with it?

In a curry, a vegetable soup, a rice dish, a dressing, or stirred into a hot plant drink for a golden latte. The Kazidomi turmeric blends more evenly into a fat, which carries the powder through the pan instead of leaving lumps sitting at the bottom.

Ground turmeric or the fresh root: what changes?

The Kazidomi powder is already dried and milled, so it measures by the spoon, keeps for months and colours a dish the moment it goes in. Fresh root has to be grated and oxidises quickly, and it tastes greener. The powder is more concentrated and more earthy on the palate.

Does it stain?

Yes. The yellow pigment in turmeric marks wooden boards, hands and plastic containers. Rinsing straight away in cold water limits what stays behind. Kazidomi advises closing the bag firmly, since the powder lifts and travels on the slightest draught in a kitchen.

How do I store it?

Dry, in a closed jar, away from light and heat, with the bag sealed after each use. Like any ground spice, the Kazidomi turmeric loses its scent over time: a powder that has gone pale and smells of nothing has had its day and is worth replacing.
