Maca Powder Organic

What is maca?

A root grown at altitude in the Peruvian Andes, dried and then ground. The Kazidomi 200 g bag holds raw maca powder alone, Lepidium meyenii, from organic farming, with nothing else in it: no carrier, no drying agent and no flavouring of any kind.

What does maca powder taste like?

Malty and earthy, with a hint of hazelnut and a quiet bitterness, strong enough to come through in a drink. That is why the Kazidomi powder tends to be paired with cocoa, banana, cinnamon or a nut butter, all of which soften its raw edge.

How do I take it?

Stirred into a fruit juice, a plant drink, a smoothie, a yoghurt or plain water, at the serving size given on the bag. The Kazidomi powder also goes into a cookie dough or into energy balls, since the malty taste survives the oven rather than disappearing in it.

Maca powder or cacao powder: which one?

Maca from Kazidomi is beige and malty; raw cacao is dark brown and far more bitter. They dissolve into the same drinks and are often used side by side, a spoon of maca taking the sharp edge off the cocoa. For a chocolate drink, cocoa leads.

How do I keep it from setting hard?

Store it dry, with the bag folded shut after every use, away from light, heat and the steam of a kitchen. The Kazidomi powder cakes if it takes on water, so use a completely dry spoon each time and you will not find hard lumps in the bag.
