Cultivated since ancient times, the carob tree is native to Syria. Carob is a substitute for cocoa but, unlike cocoa, it contains neither theobromine nor caffeine, so it has no stimulating effect on the body. Carob has a low glycaemic index and is therefore of great interest to people who want to reduce their sugar intake. It is also known to fight against cholesterol and improve memory. Hot or cold, in milk or tea, carob powder will give you a sweet and tasty drink. It can also be used as a substitute for cocoa in tiramisu-type preparations.

Instructions

Pour a little hot water over 2 to 3 teaspoons of powder. Then mix well until a smooth slurry is obtained. Then add hot or cold water as desired. Store in a cool, dry place.
