What does this pack contain?

Three binchotan charcoal sticks, the same as the one sold on its own. Each Kazidomi stick treats a litre of water, so the pack covers three litres at the same time, or lets you fit out a carafe, a bottle and a table jug without moving one stick between them.

How do I get them started?

Boil each stick for ten to fifteen minutes, then put it into a litre of tap water and leave it four to ten hours before drinking. Kazidomi suggests doing all three at once in the same pan, which saves repeating the operation for every container you want to fill.

Pack of three or a single stick: what differs?

Nothing on the product itself: the same eucalyptus wood, the same Japanese process, the same working life. The Kazidomi pack exists to cover several vessels at once, or a volume above one litre, and it lets you stagger replacements instead of renewing everything on the same day.

When should they be replaced?

Each stick stays in the water for one to three months. Past that, Kazidomi says to boil it for ten minutes before using it again. With a set of three, writing down the date each one went into service saves losing track from one container to the next.

What do I do with used sticks?

Push them into the soil of house plants or into the garden, where charcoal serves as a soil improver. The Kazidomi stick is a raw item made from eucalyptus wood, with no plastic and no assembled part, so it can be composted or buried once its working life is over.
