A detox is not a diet, it is simply eating certain foods which will benefit your body. Cleansing your body will allow it to restore mental and physical energy to make your days amazing !
But where do I start ?
1) Lemon water
Upon waking up, drink a large glass of lukewarm water with squeezed lemon juice. It will wake your body up while purifying and cleansing it. This very easy action is used in all the detox retreats ! Lemon stimulates the cleansing of the gallbladder and thus flushes waste out. It also aids digestion.
2) Go green
Chlorophyll-rich vegetables naturally help restore the digestive balance. To improve digestion and increase good gut bacteria, you need to prioritize greens in your diet.
3) Be active
This time, let’s really find an enjoyable physical activity that we will stick to ! Fasted exercise is better because it allows you to flush out more toxins and burn more calories. Your liver will convert fat into sugar to give energy to your muscles. Exercising makes you sweat and thus flush out toxins. Steam rooms and saunas are also highly recommended to detoxify your body.
4) Limit processed foods
Fresh and non-processed products are richer in vitamins and minerals. Processed foods often have too much fat, sugar and salt which create a lot of toxins in our bodies. Let’s clear out our pantries and fridges, take a closer look at labels and rediscover a diet filled with flavors and nutrients.
5) Get some fresh air !
After a heavy meal, it is recommended to get some fresh air because oxygenation flushes out a lot of toxins. Whenever you can, you should go out for a little digestive walk in an area that is as green and less polluted as possible.
6) Make sleep a priority
A long night of sleep allows the body to relax, helps fasting and of course has you feeling energized. Staying away from your screens at least one hour before bed also helps get a better quality of sleep.
7) Reduce animal products
Reducing your animal products intake: animal products (cheeses, deli meats, fatty meats…) are acidifying in your body. High in fat, they are hard to digest. Let’s prioritize plant-based proteins, low fat yogurts, white meats…
8) Eat detox food
Put detoxifying foods on your plate to help you flush out the excess toxins built up by your body. Plants are highly recommended.
