Nut paste? What the hell is that supposed to be? They are more commonly referred to as oilseed purées. They can be consumed in several ways: at breakfast or for snacks, on bread toast; to make a hot drink, vegetable milk, by diluting a spoon in water; as an ingredient in a cake recipe, in pie shells, but also in sauces to accompany salty dishes. Oilseed purées are obviously high in fat, but the fats they contain are beneficial for the health of the cardiovascular system: they are mainly unsaturated fatty acids, such as oleic acid. They are good quality vegetable proteins that provide many nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and trace elements.
